Competitive Exams
(a) Nationality : A candidate must either be:
a Citizen of India, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination provisionally subject to the necessary certificate being given to him by the Govt. before declaration of result by UPSC.
(b) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:
For IMA-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1987 and not later than 1st January, 1992 only are eligible.
For Naval Academy-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1989 (2nd January, 1987 in case of NCC/Naval Wing ‘C’ Certificate holders) and not later than 1st January, 1992 only are eligible.
For Air Force Academy-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1988 and not later than 1st January, 1992 only are eligible. Read more…

Last Date for Receipt of Applications 16.11.2009
An Examination will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on 18th April 2010, for admission to the Army, Navy and Air force wings of the NDA for the 125th Course and Naval Academy for the 45th 10+2 (Executive Branch) course commencing from 30th December 2010.
The approximate number of vacancies to be filled on the results of this examination will be 335 (195 for the Army, 39 for Navy, 66 for the Air force and 35 for the Executive Branch of Naval Academy).
Vacancies are provisional and may be changed depending on the availability of training capacity of National Defence Academy.
Note: A candidate is required to specify clearly in col. 17(I) of the Application form the Services for which he wishes to be considered in the order of his preference.
He is also advised to indicate as many preferences as he wishes to opt so that having regard to his rank in the order of merit due consideration can be given to his preferences when making appointments.
Candidates should Note that they will be considered for appointment to those services only for which they express their preferences and for no other service(s). No request for addition/alteration in the preferences already indicated by a candidate in his application will be entertained by the Commission.
