A Masters degree is earned by attending a specialized graduate program that helps students gain focused knowledge and advanced expertise in a specific career field or speciality. On average it takes approximately 1 to 2 years to earn a reputable masters degree. Upon completion of the masters degree program the masters degree is awarded. In the United States the number of semester credits required to earn a master’s degree will require you to dedicate at least one year of full-time study. The are however part-time masters degree programs which will allow you to earn your degree at your own pace. These programs usually take more time to complete than a full-time program.
Types of Masters Degrees
There are two types of masters degree programs which include: Masters of Science and Masters of Arts. The Masters of Arts degree oftern requires a minimum of 30 graduate credite hours in social sciences or general studies. The Masters of Science degree is a post-baccalaureate degree that usually requires students to compete 30 graduate hours of credit in the sciences or a specific career focus (ie. Finance, Accounting, Business, etc).
