IIT JEE 2010 - Important Dates

Examination Schedule
April 11th (Sunday), 2010, Paper 1 – 09.00 – 12.00 hrs, Paper 2 – 14.00 – 17.00 hrs
Paper-1 and Paper-2 will each have separate sections in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Both papers will be of objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
Syllabus for this examination will be available on the website of all IITs.
The candidate will have the option of submitting the application form either on-line or off-line
Important dates regarding application form and brochure

On-line application process: From Sunday, November 01, 2009 to Monday December 07, 2009
Off-line application process: From Monday, November 16, 2009 to Tuesday, December 15, 2009
Last date of receipt of completed hard copy of application forms at IITs: Saturday, December 19, 2009

PATTERN OF IITJEE
Question Papers
There will be two question papers, each of three hours duration. Both the question papers would consist of three separate sections on Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Questions in these papers will be of objective type, which are to be answered on a specially designed machine-gradable sheet (ORS – Optical Response Sheet) using HB pencils only. Incorrect answers will be awarded negative marks.
Language and Font of Question Papers
Candidates can opt for Question Papers either in English or in Hindi. This option should be exercised while filling the application form. It cannot be changed at any later stage.
Visually impaired candidates, on request, will be provided with question papers with 20% enlarged font.

Calculating Aids
Use of log tables and any electronic calculating aids are NOT permitted in JEE-2009.
Aptitude Test for B.Arch. and B.Des.
Candidates called for counselling and desirous of joining the B.Arch. and B.Des. courses will be required to qualify in an Aptitude Test to be conducted at each counselling institute on June 11 and June 15, 2009. The test will consist of one paper of three hours duration – from 10:00 to 13:00 hrs. Candidates who fail to qualify in the Aptitude Test will not be eligible for admission to either B.Arch. or B.Des. courses. Question papers for aptitude test for B.Arch and B.Des will be in English only. The candidate should write the test only once, either on June 11 or June 15, 2009.

Indian Institute of Technology, Joint Entrance Examination
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) conduct a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) every year for the admission to its B-Tech and other courses offered at the IIT Mumbai, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Chennai, IIT Kharakpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, IT Varanasi and ISM Dhanbad.

JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 2009 (JEE-2009) Application for the examination can be submitted through on-line or offline. Information brochure for IIT JEE 2009 can be downloaded from here .

Off-line:

From any branch of bank candidate may buy application form with the information brochure by giving Rs. 500/- for ST, SC or female (White Color Envelop) and Rs.1000/- for all other candidates (Blue Color Envelop). This information brochure contains all the details related to JEE such as procedure of the application, examination center, syllabus, courses offered by various institutes, fee structure, counseling and other related information about JEE-2009.

On-line:

For the online application form, visit any related site and cautiously follow all the given instructions. This can be done from the IIT websites. There is no need to purchase the hard copy of the application form. However, this method requires a few things like print-out, fee and others to be sent to the IIT Madras postal address. Examination Pattern for JEE-2007:

JEE 2007 have two papers with three hours each. These papers contain questions from chemistry, physics and mathematics. Each paper has three subsections and contains the questions from three subjects without sectional time limit.

As compared to the last exam, in this new pattern 20 percent time is minimized from first examination to last examination. As per the last exam, if interval is of 2 hours then student will be in exam zone for 8 hours rather than 10 hours.

In new pattern papers will be reduced from 3 to 2 which also helps student in minimizing stress. Testing time remains as it is, students are trained for looking at problems. Read more about these IIT JEE new changes.
