National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NITW), formerly known as Regional Engineering college was established as one of the 17 Regional Engineering Colleges across the country by the Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh, in 1959. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone for this institute .In 2002, the government of India conferred the deemed university status to it in view of the enormous contribution made by it in the field of technical education.
LOCATION
It is located on a site of 248 acres extending on either side of Hyderabad – Warangal highway at a distance of 3 Kms from Kazipet Railway Station and 12Kms from Warangal Railway Station. It is located at a distance of 140 Kms from Hyderabad. The nearest airport is in Hyderabad 140 km. The state road transport APSRTC buses ply at regular intervals, of 5-10 minutes, between Hanamkonda and various Hyderabad bus stands.

ELIGIBILITY
Admission to the undergraduate programs is based on the rank obtained in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination [AIEEE] conducted by the Central Board Of Secondary Education (C B S E ) New Delhi.
- The minimum academic qualification for admission through AIEEE is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination.
- The number of attempts which the candidate can avail at All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination shall be limited to 03(three) uniformly for all the candidates in consecutive years.
The postgraduate program students are selected through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). In addition, there are separate entrance tests of MBA, MCA and other M.Sc. programs. For doing MBA in this college minimum requirement is engineering with first class.
